Join the adventure and have the time of your life when you charter your next vacation aboard the sailing vessel Guiding Light. You may end up calling it your best vacation EVER like a lot of my past guest.
You can do absolutely nothing but lie in the sun, play in the water, and snorkel the reefs as if you were IN an aquarium like in this short video I shot (click on the picture). If you are feeling a little more adventurous you can help sail the boat and I will teach you as much as you would like to learn. Your charter gives you access to all the equipment aboard the vessel including snorkel gear for diving on the reefs, beach gear for lying around in the sand, bicycles for land tours, a kayak for your paddling desires, fishing gear to appease your hunter/gather side, and other toys socked away for you to discover.
$5500, plus your expenses, is all it takes to charter the Guiding Light for 8 days and 7 nights. You can bring up to six people, which will share three cabins. I am charging significantly less than most other catamarans, which will run you $10,000-$18,000 a week, because I love showing adventurous, easy going, fun loving people the sights and joy of my lifestyle.
I want to make your vacation the best one possible, so you will want to come back year after year and leave comments like the following (you can also click on “Guest Post & Comments” under “Blog Categories” to the right and read my guest’s blogs, which you get to write during your week aboard if you want):
This was the best day….of my life! ~ Mandy
Thanks for the great family vacation. Sailing can’t get any easier than aboard the Guiding Light ~ Mike
The Guiding Light is a great boat and Shane was an awesome captain. ~ Chris & Audrey
Best 50th Birthday in history! Thanks for making it great. – Jeff
This Christmas week was magical. We’ll always remember the year we spent x-mas in the Virgin Islands. My greatest joy was watching my four un-plugged teenagers playing board games every night. Thank you Shane for making this such a fantastic family trip. – Rose
There is no better way to start a new year than with Captain Shane in the BVI! – Marco
As always, thanks for an amazing trip! Love my time on the Guiding Light and the great memories you give me – Jamie
Are you a scuba diver? I can arrange to have a dive boat meet us at a prime location (or 2… or 3…or how about every day?) and they will provide your equipment and a dive master.
Is this your honeymoon or anniversary? I will set up a romantic picnic for you and your sweetheart to take to a secluded beach and enjoy no one but each other for the entire day.
- Roasted red pepper and tomato soup
- Feta stuffed roasted peppers
- Scurvy Soup (lemon, chicken, and artichokes)
- Lemon pepper flank steak stuffed with cheese and spinach
- Breakfast dinner (bacon, eggs, & hollandaise over sweet potato hash)
- Greek roasted chicken
- Tequila lime chicken
- Guatemalan style fish
- Mango pasta (a wonderful blend of sweet, salty, and spice created aboard Guiding Light)
- Raspberry cheesecake
- Cherry pastry (everyone’s favorite)
- Chocolate chip cookies (my mama’s secret recipe)
- Pears boiled in red wine with a mint chocolate sauce on top
- Pineapple soufflé

There is even a drink of the day during your charter.
Where do you want to go when you charter aboard the Guiding Light? You may choose your itinerary from:
Spanish Virgin Islands – The small, sparsely inhabited islands off of Puerto Rico offer a beauty and seclusion you will not find elsewhere in the Virgin Islands. Don Street, a Caribbean cruiser, cartographer, and guide for over 50 years, claims 3 of the top 10 anchorages in the entire Caribbean are available for you in the SVI. A two week charter will allow time to even visit Puerto Rico.
US Virgin Islands – Just as gorgeous as the BVI, but with less of a crowd. Here you can visit St John, where 2/3 of the island is left in its natural state as a National Park for you to hike and explore the historic sites of the Annaberg Sugar Ruins and petroglyphs to name only two. Plus there are multiple snorkel sites and beaches to relax on. The old pirate haunt of St Thomas is available for the shopper in your group and has several historical sites tucked away here and there between the shops. Plus there are several smaller islands like Hassel Island (great hiking), Buck Island (swim with multiple sea turtles), and Water Island (beach volleyball anyone?) to name a few. If you charter for two weeks we can include a visit to St Croix, with its unique Danish architecture in Christiansted (the downtown area is a National Historic Site), historical sugar plantations (Cruzan Rum is still made here), and the amazing Buck Island Reef National Monument.
British Virgin Islands – The charter capital of the world! This is where you want to go if you want natural beauty above and below the water mixed with a great night life with the multitude of other charter boats. From snorkeling the five rocks poking through the water known as the Indians, exploring the amazing natural formation of immense granite boulders of The Baths, diving the wreck of HMS Rhone, visiting the 400 year old Coppermine Point, to having a drink at Foxy’s; Soggy Dollar; Willy T; and other famous bars. Of course there is always remote Anagada with its perfect beaches (some call it a top 10 unknown beach).
Rest of the Caribbean – If you charter with me for two weeks or more we can visit anywhere in the Eastern Caribbean you desire. The longer the charter the further south we can go. You could visit St Martin (the smallest island shared by two countries), Montserrat (with its active volcano), Martinique (with its French culture), St Vincent & The Grenadines (the Tobago Cays ARE the primo spot), Trinidad (the birth spot of the steel drums), or anywhere else you fancy.
After reading all of this I know you are interested in a vacation aboard the Guiding Light, so contact me if you have any questions or would like to book your charter. I look forward to hearing from you and having you as a guest aboard the Guiding Light.
